Benefits of Membership
As the health care system increasingly focuses on prevention, the population-based perspective of public health is assuming much greater importance. This is resulting in the rapid expansion of information technology applications in public health and prevention. As this growth occurs, it is particularly crucial to facilitate electronic information exchange between the clinical care and public health systems. The Public Health Informatics WG provides an opportunity for AMIA members with interests in Public Health Informatics to interact and network.
Other Benefits
AMIA working groups serve as a mechanism for members to become involved in a specific area of focus in informatics. Membership in a working group avails an individual to assist with projects including:
- White papers
- Programs for the AMIA Annual Symposia
- Separate conferences or meetings devoted to the specific workings of the Working Group
- Position statements
Members are able to engage in networking activities including:
- Discussion lists
- Business meetings at Annual Symposia
- Special other meetings often scheduled at the Spring Congress
